FREQUENTLY ASKED PHOTOGRAPHY QUESTIONS
CAN WE BOOK BOTH OF YOUR SERVICES FOR WEDDING PLANNING AND WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY?
The short answer is no. We want to do everything to the best of our ability and in doing that, we don't want to be stretched too thin. There is a lot of time and energy that goes into both planning and photography. If you like, we are happy to help discuss which service we think would be best for you and go from there.
DO YOU DELIVER EVERY PHOTO THAT YOU SHOOT?
We do not. We always cull our captured photos to remove unwanted expressions, duplicates, or the over exposed.
DOES YOUR STUDIO PROVIDE VIDEOGRAPHY SERVICES?
We are photographers by background. We get asked this question a lot but have yet to branch out into videography.
WHICH PHOTOGRAPHER WILL BE SHOOTING MY WEDDING?
Both Danielle and Greg will be photographing your special day.
DO YOU SHOOT IN JPEG, SMALL RAW OR LARGE RAW?
We photograph everything in large RAW format for the purpose of editing. Images delivered will be in High-Resolution Jpeg format, unless TIFFS are requested. A fee will be applied for TIFF files and will include a larger flash drive to support additional space needed.
DO YOU DO DESTINATION WEDDINGS?
We happily offer our services to destinations. Additional fees such as lodging and travel will apply.
WHAT IS YOUR TURNAROUND TIME?
Engagement images will be edited in 2 weeks. Wedding images will be edited between 4-6 weeks. Layflat Albums will take an additional 4 weeks to select images, build, and print. We will follow up with notice that your album is finished and ready to mail.
WHAT IS YOUR PHILOSOPHY REGARDING PHOTOGRAPHY?
Photography has a purpose in our lives and photographs can have a major impact. In reality, its just something printed on a piece of paper or to view on your screen. But it has meaning. It is personal. It brings out emotions that weren't there prior to looking. It is a form of time travel.
WHAT IS YOUR STYLE?
Danielle is a Photojournalist. Always has been. She looks for the intimate and simple. She brings a comforting warmth that can be felt in the images. Regardless, humans vibe off of one another. And comfort is key for capturing both an artistic and relaxed photograph.
Greg is also a Photojournalist with an eye for quality, but also the ability to constantly adapt and try new things. He is looking for what is going to be timeless. What is going to be a joy to look back on year after year. What style of editing and structure will last. What will trends not be able to retire.
MY VENUE IS VERY DARK. HOW DOES YOUR STUDIO HANDLE THESE SITUATIONS?
The simple: We work with it. Part of being a wedding photographer is constantly thinking on our feet. We don't try to change the dark, because that wouldn't be authentic. We capture it as is, artistically of course.
HOW DO I GET MY WEDDING PUBLISHED ON OTHER WEDDING BLOGS OR MAGAZINES?
We try to keep everything private. We are not in this business to share your wedding with the world. However, if that is something you desire, we are happy to walk you through the steps.
DO YOU TOUCH UP ALL THE IMAGES ON OUR IMAGE DOWNLOAD?
We do. Every single image is edited.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY "TOUCHING UP" THE PHOTOS?
Every image calls for something. Their needs are unique as peoples. Some images could use exposure adjustments, others warmth or sharpness. There are many tools at our disposal to bring an image to where we think it is right. Leave it to us, you'll love your images.
HOW MANY HOURS DO YOU SUGGEST WE SET ASIDE FOR WEDDING DAY PHOTOS?
Generally, the rule would be 8. We understand that couples may not have the budget for that many hours. What we would suggest is to have a group think of what is most important to be captured and go from there.
WHAT IF WE NEED YOU TO STAY LATER THE DAY OF?
We have outlined a spot in our contract where additional time is listed. If you need us to stay for another hour or two, the fee would be $200/hr and would need to be paid prior.
DO I HAVE RIGHTS TO MY IMAGES?
You will have printing rights, meaning you can print your photos wherever you like instead of forcing you to buy prints through us. Although we always recommend spending a little more for a professional series of prints. You will also have sharing rights to share with family and friends. If you post online, all we ask is that you provide DLGM Weddings as the copyright in the image description.
WHAT TYPE OF CAMERA/EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
We photograph with Canon 5D Mark III camera bodies and USM II lenses ranging from 24mm-300mm. We also use off camera flash, and in situations that require it, standing strobes, although we prefer to work with available natural light as much as possible.
DO YOU BACK UP OUR IMAGES?
We hold all images on several drives (internal and external) as well as within our website gallery for a period of 2 years.
DO YOU HAVE LIABILITY INSURANCE?
We do. We have the standard 1 million in liability coverage requested by venues.
WE LIVE OUT OF TOWN, IS IT POSSIBLE FOR FAMILY/FRIENDS TO MEET WITH YOU INSTEAD?
Thank God for 2019. We are happy to do everything remotely. Prior to booking we are happy to answer any questions over email, the phone or video conference. We prefer to speak to you directly to both get an idea of your vision and needs.
DO YOU TRAVEL TO MEET CLIENTS?
Prior to booking, we handle everything over the phone, video or email. We're happy to go over any questions or concerns and give our general advice on your needs for the day. Once booking is completed, we are happy to continue remote conversations, or if you're local, schedule a meetup over coffee, wine or whatever you prefer.
HOW DO WE RESERVE A WEDDING DATE FOR PHOTOGRAPHY?
We require a deposit and a signed contract to secure a date. The remaining balance will be due two weeks before your event and we are also happy to schedule payment plans to alleviate stress.
WHAT IS YOUR METHOD OF PAYMENT?
We process all payments through Venmo. If your country does not accept Venmo, we are happy to accept PayPal.
IS THERE AN ADDITIONAL FEE IF WE PAY VIA CREDIT CARD?
Venmo and Paypal both charge a fee for credit cards for using their service. We do not receive that money. We always recommend Venmo without a credit card to avoid any fees.
IF WE CANCEL THE WEDDING WILL WE RECEIVE OUR DEPOSIT BACK?
No. All deposits are are non-refundable.
IF WE CHANGE OUR WEDDING TO A DIFFERENT DATE WILL WE BE ABLE TO USE OUR DEPOSIT TOWARDS A FUTURE DATE?
Only if we have that availability. We have had this happen before and in some circumstances have had to let the couple go because their new date lined up with a couple that already booked with us. This is a extreme rarity that a couple changes their date, but on some occasions, a venue can go out of business, or other.
DO YOU CHARGE A TRAVEL FEE?
It depends on the distance traveled. Please inquire with all location information to get an exact figure.
DO YOU OFFER ANY DISCOUNTS ON WEEKDAY WEDDINGS, SUNDAY WEDDINGS, OR WEDDINGS DURING THE OFF-SEASON?
We do not. We also do not raise our pricing for weekends and the wedding season.
